AAPLE senior Cole Kurth was honored as Goleta Teen of the Year runner-up. Kurth has a wide range of interests as well, including poetry, theater, Mock Trial, singing and Kids Helping Kids. The nonprofit organization is run by students and helps children in need locally and abroad. Read more.

What is AAPLE?
The Accelerated Academic Program for Leadership and Enrichment (AAPLE) at San Marcos High School in Santa Barbara, California, is a program designed to offer the most rigorous four-year academic pathway in the county while simultaneously providing hands-on, leadership and enrichment opportunities for a diverse group of the highest achieving students in the district.
Besides offering the AAPLE students a challenging academic curriculum, the program also provides students with a broad spectrum of opportunities to extend and enrich the classroom curriculum through guest speakers, theater, summer programming, and field trips. AAPLE students are also helped in preparing for the college admissions process. The AAPLE program, currently has 132 student at four grade levels. Learn more
